I’m so sorry…

I feel really bad. I have been neglecting my website. It’s not that i didn’t have anything going on. On the contrary. Lots of stuff, but I was writing them in my journals instead of online and also on Facebook.

Here’s whats been going on. If you recall, I created a bucket list and on that list I had to speak at events. So, I took the leap and posted on my facebook page that I was becoming a motivational speaker and asked people if they wanted me to speak at events. I didn’t get a response, but I got some suggestions for place to look. Thanks ladies.

I also sent out an email to a speaker asking her for advice on who’s a motivational speaker and..what does it take to be one. She replied back. She is very busy woman, so I was supper happen. When I first read the email I was  upset, but more hurt because it felt like she didn’t believe I could speak. But, when I read it again, and again, and one more time…juuuust to be sure I read it correctly, she was giving me great advice on ways to help me reach my goal. Thanks Rhonda. She was right. I needed to either have a topic to discuss and answer the question “why would people pay me to speak”. What makes me sooo wow? The first thought in my head was…”She’s right…who wants to hear what I have to say? Why would anyone with a brain whos already successful want to hear me”. But there is this little nagging voice that keeps saying to me…”just keep at it. Write the book.”

I was searching out Canadian motivational speakers when I found an article from Forbes called “There’s no such thing as a motivational speaker“. I was angry when I saw this because I KNOW there are speakers like that, but when I read the article, it completely made sense. They explain that the speaking is the activity and that i needed to find something that i was passionate about to speak on, have a topic that can help people,  then write a book about it, speak at events.

Wow, what a wake up call. I was doing this all backwards. I was putting “the cart before the horse”. In other words, I was trying to get speaking gigs without having a program, a book, or even something to talk about.

Does this sound like you? You hear speakers reach into your soul and you say to yourself “self, I want to do that. Yes, that’s what I want to do.” Maybe its just me who talks to herself like that? That’s exactly what I do…A LOT! I get an idea to do something…like speak and then start researching the idea, but nothing happens because it was feeling like this is soooo much work. I was struggling with finding a speech to write about, how to come up with the points to discuss, but after that article. I feel like now I am on the right path. First I am going to finish writing my book that I have been writing for almost 2 years and see what happens. I am writing it mainly for me as it was a way for me to release my feelings, but if it helps you, then I am even MORE happy.

Thanks.

Tina

Goal #7 Declutter – purging…starting with my closets

February is purging month, OK maybe March too because I have soooo much stuff.  The reason I started this goal was because of the book I’m reading called “The Happiness Project” by Grethchen Rubin. If you haven’t read it, you really need to get it. She’s got some great advice for each month. She talks about each project using herself and her family as the examples. I am loving it. In her book, January is the energy boosting month and one of the ways to do that is to declutter your space. If you want to buy it for cheaper, go to Amazon.ca and buy it used. After all, it’s not something you’re going to treasure forever. So, save your money and get it used.

Do you know what purging means?  For some, it may mean puking up what you just ate, but that’s not what I am talking about. I’m referring to getting rid of things you either no longer use, or are holding on to because it might come back, or because you spent money on it. That’s totally me! Holding on to it because I paid money, but the problem with that is it’s taking up space and making me angry because it’s just sitting there.

What exercise program will work for me? UPDATE

As part of my new years resolution, I have decided to go back to working out, which is what I like. I like to lift weights. I am not a big fan of fitness classes because  I feel like I don’t know what I’m doing, but I am now starting to do hot yoga and OMG, it’s frigging hot:) So for January , I tried an exercise program that I put together and, well, it didn’t work.  For many reasons, mostly because I didn’t commit to it. consistently. I also didn’t do more than 1 set of 12, which is what I was testing to see if there would be a difference. So, this month for February, I am going to try using a stability ball exercise program. I am going to do 3 days a week no matter what. If that means I go later or a different day and it messes with my routine, too bad. I have to do it, or rather I want to do. I found a program with actual images from Runpretty.com. So, for the next 28 days because February is shorter, I will do this circuit program and track my results on my workout log and will report the results on Feb 28.

Goal #7 – De-clutter my house – week 1

If you could only see my house right now. It’s a mess! I have clothes sitting on the floor, laundry piled up, dishes that need to get done, and there are files all over my desk, receipts everywhere. I have a Service Ontario bill to pay for my sticker for the car, which I’ve been trying to do all day, but for some reason I can’t get through the website. I think it might be because of Mozilla. Most government departments use Internet Explorer when they create they sites and they don’t test it with other search engines. My goal this year BEFORE August as advised by my friend and Intuitive Numerologist Laura Young said that I need to de-clutter everything in my life from my space, clothes, and relationships. She never mentioned anything about Ma Man…so I think I’ll keep him.lol

OK, so Goal #7 is to de-clutter my house, but that’s a big order. I have sooo MANY things to do. In order for me to not freak out, I am going to start with one pile at at a time, but before I do that I need to write down which rooms I need to work on and what do I need to do.

I tried to add the image, but it wouldn’t work, so I have attached a link to it here.

If you want to learn more about what Laura does, she sends out a monthly newsletter with really great information to help you move forward. If you want to be added to her email, simply email her at Laura Young lbaird@istar.ca. Or if you ready for a reading, email her and if you wouldn’t mind letting her know that you heard about her from me, that would be great. Thanks.

Goal #4 – Date ideas for this week

I wrote an article last month called “Dates, I don’t have time for that“. I made a list of date ideas that I wanted to do and well, I haven’t done a lot of them. Mostly because I forgot about them and, some of them are not really what I want to do anymore. Oh and some are summer…God I miss summer. I am so not a winter person. I am trying to do things this winter, but it’s not my favorite time of year. However, this week I am planning to create a new list of date ideas that are geared towards things I know we would both enjoy, or at least be willing to try. I am going to make them into to cute cut outs and add to my Date night box. I also left blank ones as HE likes to be spontaneous. Ya, we’ll see.

If you’re looking for places to find ideas, here’s a few I found that might help.

I thought I was Picaso – Painting I made with nail polish

I wrote one of my goals for 2017 was decorating our house for under $500. I bought a beautiful duvet comforter from Jysk and was trying to find a picture to go nice with it that was not too pricey, but I wasn’t having much luck. Then, someone suggested I tried painting one myself. I had been wanting to do that for a while. Ever since I went to the Paint night with my friend Patty. It was fun and not too complicated. The painting I drew that night turned out good for my first time. So, I did a search online for something that wasn’t too hard, when I came across Marbling with Nail Polish Tutorial by Carla Sonheim. It looked so easy and fun that I decided to I try it.
I spent $20 worth on supplies and was hoping it was going to look like her wonderful video. I bought a canvas in a frame, 4 new nail polish colors to represent the ones to match my duvet cover. I also bought paint brushes and water colours as I wanted to do another painting after. Well, it didn’t turn out even close to what Carla had on her video:(
The polish bubbled up on the canvas and when I tried to pop it, it made it worse. I tried to fix it by using water colour paint and made an even bigger mess.
What went wrong?
– did I use the wrong material? should it only be paper and not a canvas
– was it a specific nail polish? I bought what ever I saw that was under $2
– maybe it was because I did it the bathtub. You read that right. I didn’t have a big enough flat container to put the water in for my canvas that was 16×20, so I used the bathtub and it fit perfect. I think it was because the tub was too big that the paint couldn’t stick.
I don’t like it and was going to throw it out. Maybe I could get white paint and try again?
What do you suggest I do?

Are they new years resolution or goals?

2017 is fast approaching and I plan to write WAYYYYY more often, but…not post them all. After all, I have to keep you entertained and don’t want you to get sick of me. I have been reading up on how to become a better writer and one of the ways is to…just write. So, that’s what I’m doing, but I want to write about things that interest me like setting goals. Every year I try to set goals that are realistic, but sometimes I mess up, like the one I just tried to do. I set out to not drink alcohol for 7 days. Well, I tried and…lasted 2 days. I like the taste of a good beer. However, I have stopped drinking red wine, which my Man doesn’t believe. He thinks it’s a phase, but I don’t think it is. I actually don’t crave it like I use to when I would start to cook. It’s only been 2 weeks, but still. that’s huge because I would drink a glass or 2 with dinner every other night. So, my new year is off to a good start.

So, this is the time to start setting new goals, but also remembering and celebrating the ones I reached from last year.  Here’s a link to my bucket list of what I said I would do before I die, so in 2016 this is what I actually accomplished.

I decided to set small goals for 2017 and here they are.

1) Convince the man to take another trip south in February
2) Organize more fun with friends
3) have my business make $1,000+ a month
4) go on 1 date a week with my man = 52 dates
5) exercise a minimum of 3 days a week
6) read 1 new book every 2 months (that one might be tough)
6) volunteer for a fun charity that supports local women business or the Boys and Girls Club
7) De-clutter my space i.e. clean up my office files, get rid of clothes and shoes I no longer wear (so, if you want some stuff, text me)
8) decorate my home for under $500, includes a new couch:)
9) Do at least 3 things on my bucket list http://lafemmeottawa.com/i-have-120-things-on-my-bucket-li…/
10) and…love myself no matter what happens this year.

What are your goals for 2017?

Here’s to a wonderful 2017!

Discover my lifes purpose – Day 1

OK, so it’s Day 1, November 19, 2016 and I found a woman online who’s name is Suzanne Adam and she has a few questions that I need to ask myself to help me find my life’s purpose.Once I asked the questions, I am to sit quietly and ask my higher self to give me an answer in a way that would KNOCK me on the head so that I would completely understand. That’s the problem right now. My higher self is the problem, or so I think. My head is in the way!

Here are the questions:

1. What do I love to do?

2. What brings me joy?

3. What comes naturally and easy to me?

4. What is my life purpose?

OK, so lets see what my higher self answers.

Question #1 – What do I love to do?

Eat, drink, travel down south, help people find answers to their problems, hang out with fun friends, sit in a hot tub, play volleyball, make my man happy.

Question #2 – What brings me joy?

All the things I said above.

Question #3 – What comes naturally and easy to me?

finding information online, talking to strangers, writing about whatever I want.

Question #4 – What is my life purpose?

Helllooooo? That’s what I was hoping you would answer. I DON’T KNOW! OK, so those questions didn’t work. However, she sent me a meditation audio. I’m going to try it and let you know how it goes.

What’s my life purpose?

What’s my f…ing life purpose

Are you trying to figure out what you want to do with your life?
Do you constantly hear the word “purpose”.  That word frustrates me because I DON’T KNOW WHAT MINE IS!life-purpose

I see people going to work who are happy and seem to love what they do. I have friends and colleagues I work with who love their jobs. Why is it that they found their calling, but I haven’t found mine yet? Why? Well, I’m about to embark on a journey to figure out what MY life’s purpose is and hopefully within the next year.

I found this great picture from musingsofanearthangel.com that caught my attention. I am going to read everything I can, attend workshops, write test to learn about my skills and abilities, talk to career coach, learn about law of attraction, self development, go to a psychic, see a numerologist. What ever I can get my hands on to bring me closer to my purpose.

If you have suggestions, please send them my way and depending how much they cost, I will check it out. However, if you want to trade services, email me at lafemmeottawa@gmail.com.

And lets get started on the journey…

I’m bored! Where do I look to see what’s going on in the city?

I’m trying to find fun things to do in Ottawa that are not too pricey and are fun. I like to look for deals or coupons for dates, but when I do a search on Google, they come up with thousands of pages. Then, you have to go to each one because there isn’t one site that contains everything. I wish there was a site that contained ALL the deals and maybe it could be a mobile app? Hint hint for those that like to create apps. I would use this app for sure…if someone created it.bored

I remember there was a website for online coupons that compiled all the deals online into one location.  I can’t remember what it’s called. If you know of it, please share.

I like to try different things to learn, but with so many places to look, I forget where I found the deal or what the place was called. Then I have to go and start my search all over, until now. I am going to use this page to continuously update where I find things. No more trying to find things all over. It will be one click away.

Here you go. Hope it helps you as well.
